SDG 12 – Responsible production and consumption
Goals
Goal 12.1
12.1 Implement the Ten-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns, with the participation of all countries and under the leadership of developed countries, taking into account the level of development and capacities of developing countries.
Goal 12.2
12.2 By 2030, achieve sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.
Goal 12.3
12.3 By 2030, halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels and reduce food losses along production and supply chains, including post-harvest losses.
Goal 12.4
12.4 By 2020, achieve environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to the air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse effects on human health and the environment.
Goal 12.5
12.5 By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.
Goal 12.6
12.6 Encourage companies, especially large companies and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and incorporate sustainability information into their reporting cycle.
Goal 12.7
12.7 Promote sustainable public procurement practices, in accordance with national policies and priorities.
Goal 12.8
12.8 By 2030, ensure that people everywhere have the relevant information and knowledge for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.
Goal 12.a
12.a To help developing countries strengthen their scientific and technological capacity to move towards more sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Goal 12.b
12.b Develop and implement instruments to monitor the effects on sustainable development, in order to achieve sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes local culture and products.
Goal 12.c
12.c Rationalize inefficient fossil fuel subsidies that encourage uneconomical consumption by removing market distortions, in accordance with national circumstances, including through restructuring tax systems and phasing out harmful subsidies, where they exist, to reflect their environmental impact, taking full account of the specific needs and conditions of developing countries and minimizing possible adverse effects on their development, so as to protect the poor and affected communities.
