This roadmap, endorsed by 193 countries, including Spain, is officially called \u201cTransforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\u201d. <\/p>\n
Its structure includes a preamble and four relevant sections: a political declaration that sets out the principles, vision, and global commitment; the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets; the means and partnerships for global action; and the framework for monitoring and evaluation at the national, regional, and global levels, along with 223 indicators that facilitate its continuous monitoring.<\/p>\n
In the Arteixo Town Hall, the 2030 Agenda is the essential framework for guiding municipal policies and strategic projects, fulfilling the global commitment and adapting the objectives and goals to the local context. Thus, work is being done to integrate sustainable development priorities into every area of \u200b\u200bthe municipality, collaborating with citizens, the private sector, academia, and social organizations so that Arteixo can move towards a just, prosperous, and sustainable future for all its inhabitants.

In Spain, the commitment to the 2030 Agenda is central to national policy, led by the national government since 2015 and materialized through the Action Plan for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy. This approach has driven key new policies such as the Spanish Urban Agenda, the National Reform Plan, and the National Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.<\/p>\n
The Arteixo City Council has adopted and adapted this vision within its local context, developing its own Urban Agenda and the Integrated Action Plan \u201cArteixo en positivo\u201d (Arteixo in a Positive Light), unanimously approved by the council in 2025. This plan defines the strategic lines and projects that will transform the town towards sustainable development, aligning all policies and actions with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), their targets, and international indicators. The participation of social, economic, and environmental stakeholders, as well as the exchange of experiences with other municipalities, ensures multi-stakeholder governance and efficient resource management, in addition to access to European and national funding. <\/p>\n
The experience of Arteixo is recognized as a best practice and transferable model for implementing the Spanish Urban Agenda and achieving the SDGs, actively collaborating in state and European forums. Thus, every public and private action that contributes to the common good is identified, aligned, and evaluated in direct relation to the SDGs, strengthening the municipality’s sustainability and resilience. <\/p>\n
With this approach, Arteixo is consolidating its position as a benchmark in circular economy, sustainable mobility and innovation, articulating policies that respond to current challenges and contribute effectively to the advancement of the 2030 Agenda in Galicia and the rest of Spain.
