What are the Sustainable Development Goals<\/h3>\n

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) play a central role in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda, being established in the second part of this fundamental document. Each country has the responsibility to identify specific challenges and adapt the global goals to its territorial context, aligning its policies and projects with those SDGs that will allow it to effectively advance towards sustainable development. The SDGs constitute a universal call to action and share a common meaning: they are a roadmap aimed at eradicating poverty, protecting the planet, and improving the quality of life and the future of all people. The 2030 Agenda defines 17 goals, developed into 169 action targets and 223 global indicators to assess progress.<\/p>\n

Although they have global reach and universal application, it is essential to adapt them to the characteristics of each territory and develop a specific Agenda to maximize their impact, as is the case in Arteixo and the rest of the municipalities in Spain. This multi-stakeholder framework integrates all levels of government, from the national to local governments, and fosters collaboration with the private and social sectors, as well as citizens. By acting in this way, it supports the Spanish Sustainable Development Strategy 2030 and strengthens joint action to address global challenges from a local perspective. The SDGs offer a common language and a unique structure that facilitate communication and coordination of progress and needs related to sustainable development.<\/p>\n

Understanding and applying the SDGs allows both the public and private sectors to identify how each action can contribute to the specific goals of the territory and be considered genuinely oriented towards sustainable development. The Arteixo City Council provides this website to share institutional knowledge and promote the participation of all local stakeholders in the search for solutions adapted to the reality of Arteixo, driving the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs in our municipality.<\/p>\n
